What to look For in a Bed and Breakfast Before You Make Reservations
How many times have you or your friends found out a few bad details about a certain hotel or restaurant – AFTER you’ve stayed there or eaten at their tables. Most of the time, unfortunately. If you only had gotten a few tips before you stepped across their doorstep and had a bad experience, you would have been grateful. There are a few things you can look out for before you book a room at a hotel motel or Bed and Breakfast before you find out the hard way it isn’t worth your time or money.
Check Their Website
With anything you want to do in the future, you should check it out first. A restaurant, a movie, a place where you want to stay for a few nights. It’s best to do a little research and not go in blind to a situation. Mot Bed and Breakfasts will have a web page just for their business. A really good site will include a description of the house, pictures of each room and details about the food they serve. There will also be a rate schedule, what themes there are for each room and if there are any special activities going on nearby during that time of year.
Especially pay close attention to the pictures. Do the rooms look inviting? Does everything appear clean? Looks can be deceiving, but a picture should be the best presentation possible of the interior and the exterior of the room. If the pictures don’t give you a warm, fuzzy feeling, then it is time to move on and find ones that do. After all, the pictures should make want people book a room and they should have been chosen with care before being placed on a website.
Make a Call
Call the Bed and Breakfast and ask a few questions. The service will be evident in the tone and how you are treated with your questions. Anyone answering the phone should make you feel welcome and have answers to your questions. If they don’t, they should be at least willing to find out for you. Most of all, see if they are polite. Polite staff are the backbone of any great establishment, whether it is big or small and they should treat potential customers with care as it is business or not for them when you do call.
Look for Reviews
When you are still on the Internet, see if you can find a review site for accommodations in the city you are staying at. Many travel sites and even hospitality sites will offer a list of various places in the city that customers can rate after their experience. Does your Bed and Breakfast have a five star rating out of five stars? Does it only have two? Find out why before you book a room. If there is one review by someone who hated pancakes, then it might not be so bad. If there are several reviews scolding service and cleanliness, move on.
